WEEKEND IN KRAKOW

1st Day ARRIVAL / KRAKOW :
Arrival at Krakow airport and transfer in coach to the city center, which stands on the banks of the Vistula river. It is the ancient capital of the country with a historic center, registered in 1978 on the first UNESCO list as an urban phenomenon. Start of the guided tour from Wawel Hill, which houses the most important monumental and architectural complex in Poland, therefore: the Cathedral of SS. Stanislaus and Wenceslaus and the Royal Castle, which was the residence of the Polish sovereigns. Continuation of the visit in the beautiful Market Square, where the Cloth Market, the Town Hall Tower and the Basilica of Santa Maria, with an extraordinary late Gothic altar, carved in lime wood by Veit Stoss, extend. Hotel accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay.
2nd Day KRAKOW / AUSCHWITZ – BIRKENAU / KRAKOW :
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Oświęcim, for a guided tour of the Auschwitz – Birkenau Memorial and Museum, the former Nazi concentration and extermination camp, founded by the Germans in 1940, during World War II. Free lunch. Return to Krakow and a short visit to the Jewish district Kazimierz, which has preserved some synagogues (including the Old Synagogue and Remuh) and monuments related to the Jewish community that once played an essential role in the life of Krakow. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.


3rd Day KRAKOW / WIELICZKA / KRAKOW :
Breakfast in the hotel. Excursion to Wieliczka, to visit the oldest salt mine in Europe. It is a unique place with chapels and caves carved in salt, some even with underground lakes. The tourist trail is about 3.5 km long and winds from a depth ranging from 64 to 135 m. The most spectacular chapel, all in salt, is the one dedicated to St. Cunegonda (Kinga) which can accommodate about 500 people. Free lunch. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.
4th Day KRAKOW / DEPARTURE :
Breakfast in the hotel. In good time, transfer to Krakow airport. END OF SERVICES
